STOP STARING! by Alicia Estrada / Mexican Cinema and the Golden Age
Fall Winter 2012 Los Angeles, CA

Starting out with the bomb seats A-22 and A-21 front row with Loulou Von Brochwitz and a few seats down from Beverly Hills 90210’s AnnaLynne McCord was a super start and super beginning for Alicia Estrada’s viewing of her Fall Winter 2012 Collection of STOP STARING! at the Vibiana in Downtown Los Angeles. The beautiful venue and beautiful runway glorified the glory days with wicked era piece dresses in rosy print full skirted dresses and checquered hipster calf length hip hugging secretary like beauties also in baby blue, cherry print and sailor made with a grand finale of a Oscar Winning Jessica Rabbit ensemble in brilliant glittering gold.

The models wore super sophisticated hats from Louise Green Millinery and super sexy shoes from Michael Antonio Footwear.

Of course I was sold immediately with the collection with her opening pieces in Lace Two Piece Peplum Blouse and Skirt also with a Fur Caplet and Scallop Caplet.

Who could resist that ?? In any era !

Pin Up Model Loulou Von Brochwitz sported Stop Staring!’s Belinda full skirt one pc dress in Navy and Tan and AnnaLynne McCord appeared in the two piece paulet crop top in black and full skirt in white. Both looked very GLAMOROUS!!

Alicia Estrada’s entire collection was inspired by Mexican Actress Dolores del Rio.

Complete Collection can be viewed at Apparel News at following Link:

TRADESHOWS & TRANCES
Starting out the Week here in Las Vegas for the bi yearly Fashion Tradeshows began at Curve Expo NV (curvexpo.com) focusing on Lingerie, Swimwear and Mens Elegance apparel. With Lingerie dominating most of the focus this time around, I quickly recognized A.Che's booth having just last seen them at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim 2012 in Miami. Having a chat with JD Bowman, Director of Branded Swimwear from A.Che's parent company, PARISA, he informed me that their tier sizing gave them good presence there in the mostly intimate apparel forum and to expect new designs from Amanda Che' for the coming season. .. Can't wait for that.

Next door was CAPSULE;a fashion tradeshow featuring innovative brands with other venues in New York, Paris and Berlin.... Walking around I came across CIRE TRUDON (contact info@kvdnyc.com), oldest wax manufacturer dating back to Lous XIV's reign in beautiful handmade glass vessels. .. perfect for backyard camping in a HEIMPLANET inflatable diamond grid 5 person tent (heimplanet.com). And for fun beach camping and spring frolicking I found an assortment of fun Beach bags from Fun Junk (funjunkonline.com) based out of Washington and FRESCO (frescotowels.com) featuring matching soft terry cloth pillows and robes.. ooh so soft on your face and body. Always to complete a good outdoor manuever is a good set of headphones in metallic at the eskuche' booth(eskucheme.com) for clearer vision and listening. More about Capsule at http://wearethemarket.com/

Later that eve I found myself at the traditional Crazy Horse at MGM for The So CURVE Fashion Show Crazy Horse Paris featuring lingerie ensembles by Leonisa, Parisa, Parfait by Affinitas, Huit, Fantasie, Fauve, Freya, Cass, Mia, Only Hearts, Rhonda Shear, Rago,Simone Perele, and the fun and dubious Pull-In for crazy boy toy action. Take a peek at a previous So Curve show at the following link:

Good thing CURVE NV came along to put some clothes on those fantastic burlesque dancers ... even though it was just lingerie. Still . those babes were hot hot hot. .

The following day was a great start at MAGIC, Sourcing, and Platform at the Las Vegas Convention Center, where I found myself amidst a swarm of fashion booths, artists, iconic designers, models, lounges, celebrity bloggers, runway shows, race car drivers, and fun samples.

Cruising along in my Fit in Clouds Glam Black Sequins Foldable Flats also available at FitInClouds.com was way cumfy as I made my way past sleek lounges from HSTUDIO(hstudio.com)
for three days straight in a row not to miss the Fashion Runway Shows in North Hall featuring selected styles from across the MAGIC platform.....

...with Mikey Koffman from Sunset Gower Studios L.A. Fashion Week producing them all. (www.thegalleryla.com/LAFW/)

and fun model celebrity appearances by one of Tyra Banks America's Next Top Models, Alexandria from ANTM All Stars.

Speaking of models.. running into PIN UP MODEL LouLou Von Brochwitz was definitely a perk. I took advantage of taking a few flexed out pics with her. LOL!

She was in a super good mood, having Betsey Johnson the day before sign the cover of SEVEN from the previous year; where LouLou had the cover in a Betsey Johnson frilly two piece swimsuit. .. totally cute.

Yes, I got the chance to also catch a pic of Betsey's parade at WWDMAGIC having been there the day before taking photos with her fans and introducing her new pricepoint collection...you can view more at the following link ...

With great new colors from Pantone and fun plates and designs at the Minx nails lounge, there were great receptions and chinese music and culture at SOURCING with famous master Chinese calligraphist, Mr. Peng Han Cang.

With artists and parties everywhere you could count on an even bigger one because there is

ALWAYS a hip party at the Desigual lounge.. with live artists and food, drink, and fun.I was able to catch their live Artists painting four live models as onlookers watched. Fascinating!
Well a close out to another session and travelling tradeshows we wait in anticipation for the next time this coming August 2012.

It was Day 3 of Fashion Week for me in South Beach Miami and Nikki Beach was on fire. The fashion event at the notorious south beach location was filled with amazing vendors and designers for the S.P.F (Sand Play Fashion) and What Women Want amongst sandy beaches and cabanas as well as all the beautiful people of South Beach.

Including these vendors were scrumptious cake pops by QT POPS, Manicure stations, Midori Shoe Dazzle and the beautiful Eva Ritvo, M.D who was also there promoting her new book with fellow Debra Luftman, M.D., THE BEAUTY PRESCRIPTION. .. A must get for those in search of inner and outer gorgeousness.

Well she sure put her words into quick action as she MC'd the show with awesome designers as Robert Graham, Adjanie, Fashions by Azucar, ICANDY Swimwear, and finally Le Doux.

Robert Graham stepped onto the stage with perfect Summer Men Ensembles for the Beach and Summer Days and Nights at the Boardwalk...

Adjanie gave a nice presence of Caribbean Style and Resort favorites for the Island Hopping Girl with Billy Ocean on her mind.

Francisco Azucar and Fashions by Azucar brings new meaning to Show Girl... I mean Show Boy. Well Ok, GOGO BOY!! Yes , these were some new styles to get you staring at that DUDE up ON THAT PLANK shaking his ass. Move over BIATTCH.

Having a chance to meet Margo the Designer for ICANDY SWIMWEAR after the show; I learned that she was from Poland and had been designing fashion since she was a little girl. Her Retro Cuts and Hues were a matching second to her Neo Geometric Tunics as seen here on the Designer. I hope she knows how cute they are. :)

Finally Le Doux gave us classic Golden and Black Shimmery Sexy pieces staying true to her fan base as seen here on two Models on the Runway

MARYSIA SWIM / 2012 WOMEN'S COLLECTION - MIAMI

*** On a crispy day after serious thunderstorms during Swim Week in South Beach Miami we caught up with Marysia Dobranska Reeves, Designer of Marysia Swim, at the W Hotel where the Salon Allure show was being held along glamourous Collins Avenue up in her showroom.

Unfortunately due to unexpected Video Malfunctions.. We taped the entire interview with my phone continually stopping Marysia a few times between questions and recordings off my recorder.

Thank you Marysia for being such a great hostess and giving us such a great interview. Here is how the interview went: ***

BS: Hi I'm Isabel with Bikini Shell and we are here at the Salon Allure Media Lounge in South Beach Miami for Fashion Week and today with "Meet the Designer" is Marysia from Marysia Swim.

BS: How's it going Marysia? How are you today?

MDR: I'm fine thank you , how are you?

BS: Very Good; I'm really glad to hear that.
BS: It comes to my attention and I believe that I read it some where in one of the Celebrity Magazines that Perrey Reeves from Entourage mainly known in her role as Ari's wife in the very popular pay for Television series is your husbands, Nathanial Reeves's, sister
BS: Is that true?

MDR: Yes - that's right

BS: Oh Cool.....That's really exciting! Because I love that show and obviously so does everybody else in this country.

MDR: Yes, They are having a premier in New York City right now of the last season and we're missing it.

BS: Aww that's too bad.. Well I'm sure you'll hear all about it and see photos as I'm sure they will also see your photos.
BS: Well In your opinion; do you believe that the popularity of your sister -n -law's role has affected the sales of your Swimwear Line or increased
its popularity with the Media and mainstream Hollywood?

MDR: I'm not sure exactly, it's kinda hard to measure that. But Perry has always been a big supporter... and she's always wearing my bikinis; so people who admire her; might also admire by chance my swimsuits.

BS: Well your sales are right on top of the line I noticed since you are here at Salon Allure and i was just wondering, since everybody wants Celebrity endorsements..and I was thinking 'WOW, Marysia has got a quick stop with Perry Reeves'

MDR: Ya i have never been caught photographed with my sister so I've never been really public.

BS: ... And I know she is seen sometimes at your Front Row

MDR: Yes for the last few years she has been seen.

BS: Yes, so you do have a Celebrity to bring out of the closet and vice verse she has someone as yourself to put to her escape...that's great news!

BS: Marysia, I have seen your collection in the past and we at Bikini Shell have even blogged about it. Truly your collection always reminds me of an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel. I also noticed that your designs have specific names of destinations.... such as the ACAPULCO, IBIZA, SARDINIA, AND ST. TROPEZ.....
Can you tell us why you chose these names and if you personally have a favorite one; Bikini Shell would love to know which one it is!!!

MDR: I was inspired this year by a Slim Aarons book called "Poolside" and all the names are locations for where he shot the photographs in the book ....so i named them after that. And my FAVORITE is the "Marbella" which is the string bikini with the little loop in white and black..

BS: That is really exciting and I hope I see a bunch of those on the beach this week
because that is a great reason.... THANK YOU!!

BS: Marysia, it is so great to see you again. You look fantastic and amazing and we are really excited that you a have taken the time to answer a few questions about your 2012 Marysia Swimwear Collection showing here in South Beach Miami for Fashion Week. We loved your collections previously at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and this year at Salon Allure you previewed as well. Are there any other locations your line showed during Fashion Week that we missed so that we can look them up?

MDR: Well Ed[Kavishe], from Fashion Wire Press; actually we're doing a little presentation at the apartment .... you can get the images from him.. so there is a little fashion week "extra".

BS: That is fabulous because I actually know Ed[Kavishe] myself and I know Ed is one of the most amazing photographers in Fashion Week..So I'm really looking forward to seeing those images... And thank you so much.

BS: There you go. Here live at the Salon Allure Media lounge for "Meet the Designer" with Marysia Swim for Fashion Week Swim collection 2012.
BS: Bringing it to you from Bikini Shell I'm Isabel. Have a great day. Thank you Marysia.

MDR: Thank you :)

Fashion Week Swim VANGUARD L.A. SS 2011

Jetting up to Vanguard right after the Shows at Sunset Gower was a hop step and a jump away. As I arrived Bikini Shell started rounding up the models for VANGUARD SWIM featuring Parke and Ronen and Graffinis.
Lo and behold was Parris Harris designer, producer, and creator of Phashion TV taking center front in the backstage make up room coordinating for the HEART ATTACK show also taking place.
The result was none the less a STREET SMART AND SAUCY eve of Swimwear meets SKATERS. Voila, the night continued with djs in the patio and the main stage and L.A mixers keeping it real.

More models, more celebs, more fashionistas, and more drinks. This time with some great hordeurves by the HOUSE OF AN. Ooo yummy. Pt. 2 of Day Two for Fashion Week was on its way at Sunset Gower and Mikey Koffman came out to deliver her entrance and introduce the night's list.

JL MARKS
Yes, Fringe is in, and so are the cool fringe monokinis Jessica Marks brings to the runway this season with the matching fringe tube-kini dresses. The tall tan boots worn with it were as festive as Mardi Gras itself as were the ruched side tie hot pants and glitter tops. All the love in the world couldn’t make this collection any better. Just enough love to go around.
Visit the JL Marks Boutique at 8238 W. 3rd St., L.A. http://www.jlmarks.com/

BALTHACZAR
Elegant cocktail dresses and pant suits with glitter give great ideas to the main event of a wedding to be. With styles for bridesmaids in winter or summer giving us a glimpse of the bride at the end. Experience it for yourself at:

Did I mention the great gift bags including Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics and the playful illustrious watercolored scarf courtesy of Balthaczar. Thanks guys!!

JOYRICH
For the spy who loved me, JOYRICH gets medieval with the mixes of prints, florals, plaids, and paisleys. Who could a thought you could wear all three. Well the lucky couple of designers pairing up maybe at a Boogie Nights theme party hit it just right with cool L.A. style swimwear for both him and her and patriotic spandex leggings. MWAH! xoxoxo

L.A. Fashion Weekend at Sunset Gower Studios, Hollywood CA October 15, 2010 DAY ONE - Spring Summer 2011

Another year at Sunset Gower Studios with Mikey Koffman of The Gallery. This year they brought us something special with an EXCLUSIVE eve committed to swimwear. What a treat to follow this night with a great lineup that includes A. Che, teeki, and Kooey from Australia. The night was young with excitement thru the tent. Displays were presented by Jewelry Designers Wishcraft and Morning Glory, T- Shirt Designs by Natures Mistake, and Eyewear by Singer Performer C. Millian. With Regulars to the scene like FNL’s host Rocco dashing to their seats the show was about to begin.

A.Che SS 2011- Los Angeles
A.Che was truly a travel warp to the Sahara Desert bringing us harem love with glitter safari headwraps in Plums, Purple Hazes, and Turquoise Marines leaving us to want an eternal relationship in the two piece all white with headwrap suit. Local girl Amanda Che gave a spectacular reception.

teeki SS 2011- Los Angeles
Opening and closing the show for teeki was a bright and sensational mini model in an adorable two piece banana suit. Ready for summer school I’m sure, the mixed and matched pieces were fun loving separates in stripes, polka dots and neutrals. Leading the way to a dorm raid and a night out in meshed out mixed matched gear.

Save your recycled water bottles and have Lindsay Hemric designer of teeki make you the best teeni bikini you ever had. And if you’re not convinced then check out the show for yourself at : http://www.teekilove.com/ click on PRESS AND FASHION … you’ll be happy you did.

KOOEY Australia SS 2011 - Los Angeles
Sweet delightful Kooey gets the call out with tribal drums and dub tribe prints transitioning into delicate lines and bold colors. Kooey creates matching mens and womens ensembles for the ultra tourist lounging by the poolside in keen blue and orange geometrics and tunics. Bringing a dash of resort wear in his and hers long soft cotton robes and tight fitting Bermuda shorts. Sexy for the weekend.

Supporting swimwear line A.Che that evening was celebrity Joanna Krupa from Dancing with the Stars and Model for Beach Bunny Swimwear and now currently A.Che . Naturally the Celebrity Sighting goes to her.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim 2011, Miami FLORIDA

Hot Miami Nights and South Beach once again brings us a fantastic Fashion Week with Line Ups and Parties from the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim, Nikki Beach, Salon Allure, Bass Museum, The Webster, and The Standard Hotel. Although I wasn't able to be there this summer, luckily Bikini Shell's two fab Interns Ashlee and Stephanie from South Florida, sat in all the shows as well as the After Parties and we will always love them for that.

check out what Ashlee has posted :)

DAY ONE of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim 2011 in Miami, Florida
Trina Turk kicked 2011 “Acapulco Gold” Swim and Spa collection

Trina Turk kicked off MBFW Swim with loud and outgoing peacock and floral multi colored prints. The gold and turquoise detailed pendants and buckles added a luxurious touch to a common silhouette. Trina’s tight tunic with bat sleeves impressed the audience as the loud floral casablanca print screamed vacation time!! The line stayed sophisticated but added edge with plunging neck lines and short rompers. Trina encompassed elegance with her statement accessories. The woven straw hats with dramatic tall crowns and oversized brims was an unforgettable addition to her swim collection. The inner girlie girl surfaced when the oversized straw hat downsized but did not leave behind the “wow factor” by displaying a gigantic woven bow. Trina’s finishing pieces included a shiny purple silk charmeuse long tunic, gold tweed cropped jacket, and of course who can forget the tall handsome male model wearing a bright lime green blazer and sexy board shorts.

DAY THREE of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim 2011 Miami, Florida Mara Hoffman Swim Resort 2011 Swim Collection
Don’t forget your passport girls!! Mara Hoffman took us on a supernatural voyage through an imaginative kaleidoscope of neon colors. She brought to life cultures from all over the world. (India, Egypt, Native America, Africa, and the Islands) The tour through Mara Hoffman’s 2011 Collection guided us through geometric printed swim suits, embroidered bikinis, chiffon ponchos, tight maxi dresses, tunics, leggings, wrap skirts, v-wired tops, and oversized traveling bags. The illuminating patterns continued the journey stopping at “Batik” (geometric and crystal shapes), “Dashiki” (colorful garment worn in west Africa), “Crystal Collage” (the kaleidoscope theme), the “Eye of God” (Egyptian symbol), Amazonian tribes (artistic face paint), and ending in the African Jungle.

Poko Pano 2011 - Run of the Show - MBFW Swim, South Beach, Miami
Poko Pano Picnic time in Miami Beach!!! Don’t forget the gingham blanket, watermelons, and banana flowers!! Poko Pano expressed her feminine and flirty side in her 2011 Swim Collection. Make sure to check the weather before you leave. Weather forecast for Poko Pano’s picnic started with clear skies, bouquets of tropical flowers, stripes, and watermelon prints. So far no clouds over the girls wearing cut out solid colored one pieces. But watch out, Florida’s unexpected cloudy sky’s ahead!! Poko Pano added some twist and turns right before we got to dessert!! The uninvited heartbreaker dress and the twisted bandeau two piece showed up. Beware of the rain, solid white bathing suits will be present. Run for shelter before the rain comes. To end a wonderful picnic, we stumble upon a buried treasure on the beach. Glowing jeweled one pieces and cover ups, bedazzled in a colorful toucan print.

DAY FIVE of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim 2011 Miami, Florida

Nicolita Caliente 2011Summer Collection, Miami

All ABOARD the Nicolita sailboat!! The rich Cuban music starts and the crowd wants to move their hips and feet. Nicolita’s 2011 Summer collection really added some flavor to the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim. Nicolita encompassed a 60’s flair with an authentic Spanish look. The fire red lips, side curly pony tails, flowered hair pieces, and frilly tiered arm pieces got me ready to SALSA!!! I enjoyed the fullness of the suits that stayed true to any girl with curves. The braided golden straps and the sailor nautical colors would get anyone excited to voyage through the sea. No sea sickness here!!

Marysia Swim 2011 Collection, Miami

Designer Maria Dobrzanska Reeves really gave the audience a relaxing feeling when attending the Marysia Swim’s 2011 Collection. I felt like I was at a luau, when the traditional Polynesian island drummers started to play their rhythmic music. The show was complete when I noticed Ari Golds wife from Entourage (Perry Reeves), sitting in the audience wearing one of the Marysia cover ups. Maria incorporated neutral calming colors such as greens, tans, and baby pinks. The soft feminine fabrics gave an unwinding feeling, which is perfect for traveling or going for a stroll in the local markets. Her collection featured high waist silhouettes, one-pieces, and draping cover-ups. To complete your outfit and get involved with the natives, Maria added an oversized conical Asian hat.

Ashlee Kross, Bikini Shell Intern 2011 Miami Collections, Ashlee a graduate of West Virginia University received her degree in Business and has worked with NYC based fashion showrooms, Coast, Intermezzo, Barneys NY, Fitness Magazine, and Dash Miami. Her passion is everything fashion, and looks forward to furthering her career in Public Relations.
